ADSL very slow connection

Hi there!

I know that is another topic of this type. However, I tried to resolve the situation after reading many topics but without success.

So I will describe my problem ...

Just returned from a 2 weeks holidays and noticed that my internet works very slowly ... sometimes I even have a problem with the opening of a web page ... before my holiday my internet speed  was generally from 3 to 5 Mbps.

Paste a couple of information which may help solve my problem ...

Unfortunately I do not have phone to check the noise...

Yesterday I talked with plusnet support on webchat and I heard: Ashley: The speed is showing as correct however I can see some errors on the line that could be causing this problem. It would be worth going through some checks and reporting the fault further"

I also tried to change ADSL Filter but nothing happend.

My router is Technicolor TG582n (got it from 2014)

Re: ADSL very slow connection

That speed test result, in conjunction with the line stats you've given is odd.

I've advise getting a fault reported at https://faults.plus.net so we can investigate further.

I think they may have skipped the actual speed test that time, and gone directly to the diagnostics page to get the IP profile, and so the speed test result shown is just some random number.

Re: ADSL very slow connection

The mean time between errors on your line is at 1 second, so your line is erroring very very regularly.
Upstream DSL Link Information Downstream DSL Link Information
Loop Loss: 24.8 45.0
SNR Margin: 6.5 10.3
Errored Seconds: 3 762
HEC Errors: 2
Cell Count: 11655601 120177288
Speed: 1016 5159

Maximum Stable Rate (KBPS): 21568 Fault Threshold Rate (KBPS): 17254
Mean Time Between Retrains (Seconds): 21159 Mean Time Between Errors Upstream (Seconds): 855
Indicative Line Quality: R Mean Time Between Errors Downstream (Seconds): 1
There are a huge amount of drops, especially yesterday on your line. This is not going to be helping at all. I'll respond to your fault ticket shortly.

Re: ADSL very slow connection

You really need t get your hands on a phone - it is an essential diagnostic tool necessary to confirm that you have a dial tone and no noise.

Please perform a quiet line test - dial 17070 select option 2 using a corded phone plugged into the test socket behind the face plate of the master socket. It should be silent. A noisy phone line (or no dial tone) will have a marked adverse impact on the performance of broadband.

If the line is noisy or there is no dial tone, then a PHONE LINE fault needs to be raised with your phone provider. If this is PlusNet, you can report a fault on line using the button below.

Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.
