ADSL very and getting slower

Hello, over the course of a week my connection has been droppping, the line is much more stable now but the download speed is sitting at 284kbps. I can even do a btw speedtest, I got one through during the week and the IP profile was set to 0.7mbps down and 1mbps up. The line usually runs at full bore 21mbps and 1.2mbps up.

@weeally46 Pointless me asking for more details on that. All I can usefully suggest is that you report a fault at faults.plus.net

Re: ADSL very and getting slower

Thanks for your post @weeally46

I'm sorry to see you've had issues with your connection.

I can see we've got an engineer booked to investigate the underlying issue, but in the meantime I've sent a request to remove the artificial speed restriction (a.k.a. banding) put on by automated software at the exchange, because of the drops.

This banding was at "WBC 160K - 288K Medium delay (INP 8 ) 6dB Downstream, UC Medium delay (INP 2) 6dB Upstream (ADSL2+)" which means you were capped at a maximum of 288kbps.

I've retested your line and I can see your download speed has gone back to 21mbps.

Let us know how it goes once the engineer's been.

Re: ADSL very and getting slower

Hi,

The engineer has been out and fixed a fault on the line.

The line is a little slower than before the fault, it initially synced at 21168kbps down and 1107kbps up, my concerns are with the interleaving depth on the download side it's at 128, the path mode was on fast but it changed.

Thanks for the help.

Re: ADSL very and getting slower

Thanks for the update @weeally46

I'm glad to see an engineer's fixed a problem with your line.

I've placed an order with our suppliers to turn interleaving off, which should go through either tomorrow or next week.

Let me know how things look afterwards.

Merry Christmas in the meantime!
