ADSL speed and latency faults. Again. For the millionth time. Please help.

Things to note when reading this:

- I have pinged my router. 1-2ms ping. Wi-fi is not to blame.

- I have contacted phone support already. Didn't get anywhere.

- I have tried the test socket. Still using it now.

- I have restarted the router over 10 times, no exaggeration

- I have looked at my line attenuation, seems fine. (not good, but fine)

My ADSL max connection is having issues. For the past 2 and a half days (starting midday saturday) my connection has been unusable. Video streaming has been only possible with resolutions under 144p and even then sometimes i won't work. All video games are unplayble, servers either give up on my connection or i get over 1500ms ping.

On speedtesting services, speeds vary from 0.1mb/s to 6.5mb/s (my normal speed) and upload varies from 0.00mb/s (no typo there, actually 0.00 it reads) to 0.75mb/s. When running the speedtest, the speeds start low for download then slowly increase. The ping test struggles to start. Upload test struggles to start, it stays at 0.00 to 0.02 until near the end of the test where it spikes up to an acceptable speed. Please note that does not mean that the upload is fine, it is far from fine. The fact it spikes at the very end indicates just how bad it isn't working. Often the speedtest apps on mobile devices just say network communication issues and won't do a test. Phones often refuse to connect as they believe that the internet connection is of such poor quality that they just don't bother connecting even when tapping on the wifi to make it connect.

From around 4:30 to 4:50 my connection was fine today, now it has gone back to being bad.

I need this fixed, and fast. I am a student and I am having to rely on my Virgin Mobile 4G to do work.  I will give all the stats of my line that i can from my end;

Noise margin: 10.0/6.4

Line attenuation: 22.0/40.5

Router: 2704N running software version 1..0

Re: ADSL speed and latency faults. Again. For the millionth time. Please help.

Is there any possibility that a lot of uploading is going on?

Re: ADSL speed and latency faults. Again. For the millionth time. Please help.

There is uploads happening on one of our android devices, photos and videos being backed up. I turned this device off and ran a speedtest, and the same problem with a low upload (0.03mb/s in this case) at the start and then a spike (to 0.50mb/s) at the end. This device has been trying to upload for many days as the speed is so bad. I should also add then when google photos is uploading, it normally has a minor effect on our speeds and latency, whereas the effect on latency here is over 1000, although not always reflected in a speedtest.

Fix

There have been several past threads about the 2704n's poor ability at managing the situation where the upload bandwidth is being fully used:

----

Perhaps note down the data sent/received figures shown by the 2704n's help desk page, then check them again after a certain amount of time, to see how much data is being uploaded.

Re: ADSL speed and latency faults. Again. For the millionth time. Please help.

This is evidently what is happening. The router isn't managing it correctly. Even if it was though, the fact I am still using ADSL MAX in 2017 is nothing short of a disgrace.
