ADSL Filters

I bought a new ADSL filter from Tesco a couple of months ago, and now I'm being told this may be the reason my broadband won't connect. My questions are:
Is it common for cheap filters to break after a month or two?
Does the price and make of filter make a big difference to the quality?
Am I a plonker for shopping in Tesco? Grin

Re: ADSL Filters

Hi there,
It's not common, but it can happen, especially if they are of the cheaper variety.
It's generally accepted that the best option is to go for as filtered faceplate and I'm sure someone will be along shortly with some good suggestions.

Re: ADSL Filters

As James said, I don't think there is anything wrong with buying from Tesco in the first place .. just that they do vary in quality and just because your brand might be considered as a better one, it doesn't mean it won't be faulty.
The only way is to have some spares, so you can swap them around and either eliminate as that being the cause or not if you've got problems.

Re: ADSL Filters

I'm still using filters I got in March 2002 so they can last quite a while.
These people are a good source, imho
Still wish I had master socket as would agree about filtered faceplate.
