Re: ADSL 2+ upgrade and home move

I have an example of the speed drops I mentioned;

It's dropped massively again tonight, is this normal for the training period?
At our old house we had a slow connection when that was being set up but it never dropped 10 to 12 Mbs.

Re: ADSL 2+ upgrade and home move

Not sure about all night, I sleep most nights.
This morning it was back at decent speeds, I was getting around 12 Mbs on the last test I did earlier today. It has risen but it's lower than the other day.

It was very slow this morning but this afternoon and this evening it's been spot on.

Re: ADSL 2+ upgrade and home move

Hi RyanGould,
I'm looking into examples of this, as a ticket seems to have been created on your account because of the cease at your old property, initiating a cease ticket. I can see that that ticket has subsequently been closed.

Re: ADSL 2+ upgrade and home move

Right ok, I have another problem unfortunately.
There seems to be Alot of static on the phone line and our broadband speeds have halved.
Joanne; you mentioned that there was a fault on the line when our line was in training mode, could this be causing the issues we have ?

Re: ADSL 2+ upgrade and home move

Hi RyanGould,
It could well be, I guess the noise is still apparent with just one phone plugged into the master socket? Please let us know, if so I'll get a fault raised on the phone line for you. Once sorted that should resolve the speed issue as well.

I will double check when I get back in later and report back.

Re: ADSL 2+ upgrade and home move

I made a short phone call earlier with the phone straight into the test socket and there was no noise.
faulty micro filter by any chance ?

Re: ADSL 2+ upgrade and home move

If you plug the phone into the master socket (not the test socket) and without the router connected and no filter is there any noise.
If there is it is likely to be your internal wiring

Re: ADSL 2+ upgrade and home move

Thats why the facia plate is off and the filter is straight into the test socket, to rule out any internal wiring faults.
I have fitted another filter and the speeds are still up and down.

Re: ADSL 2+ upgrade and home move

The static on the line is intermittent BTW, its not there all the time.
It has similar symptoms to the line fault we had at the other house a few months back
