Re: A faster way to get your ip profile changed?

That's a very high ping 62ms could cause your line speed decreasing. Should be around 24ms ping.

Re: A faster way to get your ip profile changed?

lol dont complain about extra speed, there quicker to take it off you than give it to you waited 55
hours to increase profile had to try new router to help plusnet fault find. dissconnected router
twice and low and behold my profile has been lowered. so 50 hours up ten mins down lol.
how do bt get away with that?

And just for the record.
From the above table 20% - 40% = 24 hours
For me 25% at 50 hours and still waiting.

78 hours now.
I'm sure if the wait is long enough the line will drop and I'll be back to square one.

And sure enough there it goes. Now from the start again begins the pointless wait for it not to go up again.

Re: A faster way to get your ip profile changed?

Great stuff,,,,,,
close to 65 hours in, only 7 hours from the magic we will at least try to pretend to care number of 72 hours my line disconnects 3 times in quick sucsession between 04:42 and 04:45.

Now my continuous connection time is showing as 5 hours and some minutes.
Does anyone know enough about the cult of 72 houts to know if its continuous connection time or that you allways need to be synced within the correct margin for the IP profile for 72 hours and some disconnects are ok?
And as for the stability argument:
Since the BT broadband engineer has been I have been connected at a higher sync rate (enough to get my ip profile to 2000) for approx 70 hours or 4200 minutes during that time I have had at the most 1.5 minutes downtime.
Expressed as a percentage that is around 0.003% which would suggest BT dont need to get involved in trying to "stabailise" my line chances are their system only works to 2 decemal points at the most anyway and as such should read as 100% uptime or 0% downtime so I think I will still be logging that fault after the 72 hours are up.

Re: A faster way to get your ip profile changed?

For the record and fuguring I did not have much to loose at this point I decided to turn off the router for 5 minutes as previously suggested.
the bt tester seems to have a problem right now but based on speedtest.net I would suggest I am still on a 1250 ip profile

Re: A faster way to get your ip profile changed?

It's the BT speedtest you really need to see at the moment. It could also be that the IP Profile has changed but the current line speed on the portal is yet to catch up.

Re: A faster way to get your ip profile changed?

Portal speed is at 2000 and has been for 3 days now Sad
speedtester worked this time:
Download speedachieved during the test was - 1134 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 400-2000 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :2336 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 1250 Kbps

Re: A faster way to get your ip profile changed?

Hi backtogeek,
Would you like me to SNR reset your line to see if it picks up your profile?

Download speedachieved during the test was - 1714 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 400-2000 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :2272 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 2000 Kbps
Smiley woohooo!
although my actual sync speed has dropped it is still in the range for a 2000 profile
Thanks jojo Smiley
EDIT:

Real world difference is not massive but its better so I am happy Smiley
I wonder why resetting the SNR can trigger your BT ip profile to change.... perhaps the answer in part to the original question posed in the topic of this thread?
