Re: A faster way to get your ip profile changed?

Have to say that my experience the BT IP profile on ADSL2  has always raised within the specified time. Even the 4 hour one has worked but then had to wait for over 12 hours for PN profile to match.

Re: A faster way to get your ip profile changed?

Yes it does work sometimes but seems very hit or miss.
Best to assume if it doesn't happen on time you have been missed and forgotten.
Broadband is a great advance but the technology backing it up must be antiquated if these pages are anything to go by.
The fag packet with my ip profile change time scrawled on the back must have fallen behind the filing cabinet.

Re: A faster way to get your ip profile changed?

Update: so now 44 hours have passed since my sync speed jumped up by 35% with no dissconnects in between and my IP profile is still stuck on 1250....
Well done BT,

Re: A faster way to get your ip profile changed?

I'm tempted to suggest ONE router reboot between 10am and 3pm to see if that kicks it in to life - it's certainly something that used to be recommended in the past.
I'd leave it off for a few minutes in between.

Re: A faster way to get your ip profile changed?

Just seen this advice from JoJo from another user with a stuck profile:

Hi Palmski,
I've just had a word with him and in your circumstances he suggests powering off the router for 5 minutes to see if that kicks it in,. If not he will still look at it later.

And just for the record.
From the above table 20% - 40% = 24 hours
For me 25% at 50 hours and still waiting.

78 hours now.
I'm sure if the wait is long enough the line will drop and I'll be back to square one.

Re: A faster way to get your ip profile changed?

@Jelv: I will do that once it hits 72 hours so at least that way I can still log a fault if it does not get better.
@billnotben: As your over the magic 72 hours you can ring plusnet and insist it is logged as a fault, I strongly suggest you do so, nothing will change if we sit back and take it.
And I am now just shy of 50 hours.... still no change, again..... well done BT

Re: A faster way to get your ip profile changed?

I figure your 72 hours will be up tomorrow evening. DO NOT REBOOT DURING THE EVENING.
I'd recommend you do it between 10am and 3pm tomorrow (or between the same times on Saturday).
If you are being pedantic you should wait 120 hours as that the documented longest the BT system could take - there's no real logic to waiting to reach 72 as that's an average.

Re: A faster way to get your ip profile changed?

Will do thanks Jelv.
Out of interest whats the significance of the times, is it based on SNR?
I read a mass of BT documents from the BTw website the 72 hour thing has been in place since 2007 they will not accept a call/incident/fault from an ISP unless 72 hours has passed so I am guessing that despite the guidelines based on % increase the 72 hour wait is an internal KPI or SLA trigger.

HI guys,
Appreciate what your saying, but it can take up to 72 hours of continuous connection.
Jojo Smiley

I had the same too. My proflle staying at 6500k after 88 hours continuous connection since January 5th. My line was sync fully at 8128k and plusnet ip profile is correct 7150K but BT's end is all wrong, Very frustrated and disappointed overall in BTWholesale.

250% - 3100% = 4 hours
40% - 250% = 12 hours
20% - 40% = 24 hours
15% - 20% = 48 hours
10% - 15% = 72 hours
8% - 10% = 96 hours
0% - 8% =120 hours

I hate this stupid ip profiling things from BTWholesale. What the point of one tiny drop and had to wait for 5 days - we shouldn't be charged at 100% adsl pricing if the speed drop. I do hope one day plusnet can take control at the profile rather than BTWholesale took control over it. I doubt it, as BT are always in control of all isp's and telephone lines in uk.

Re: A faster way to get your ip profile changed?

Agreed pasedgley.
In the sad world of call centers and commercial reporting the truth is the only thing that makes a difference is a massive amount of complaints, I suggest now you are over the magic 72 hours you ring plusnet and raise this not as a support ticket but as a complaint.

I already did complaint to plusnet and they say they had looked into this with BT but heard nothing since today, They log it as a fault but there is no fault in my ticket. I had also raise with thinkbroadband boss Andrew Ferguson as he had a word with BTWholesale on my behlaf but sadly BTWholesale say I had to wait for 120 hours for the profile to rise. That's a waste of 650K and waste of my adsl charged. Sadly a rise from 6500K to 7150K is no longer 72 hours, it now had to wait for a maximum 120 hours, Totaly disgraceful BT.

Re: A faster way to get your ip profile changed?

Whats going on now, I noticed my speeds drop suddenly around 20:30
I have not hit even close to my BW limit.
My IP profile is 1250 and I am synced at 2400 (for the last 54 hours)
