585 v7 with v8 firmware

AJJ wrote in another thread

I've got a trusty tg585 v7 running the v8 firmware

I was surprised that is possible, but knowing my tech acumen! Smiley
Anyway what are the pros and cons to such a mod?
No one has to agree with my opinion, but in the time I have left a miracle would be nice.

Re: 585 v7 with v8 firmware

I assumed it just means the firmware for the TG585 v7 happens to have a version number 8.X.Y.Z.

Re: 585 v7 with v8 firmware

The circuit boards in the TG585v7 and v8 are different and each has its own firmware version stream. The latest firmware for the v7 is v8.2.6.5 whereas v8.2.7.7 and v8.2.7.8 are for the v8.
