2WIRE 1800HG ADSL2+ firmware upgrade

Hi All,
I am trying out an ex-BT 1800HG router which can reliably achieve higher connection speeds than my Netgear DG834 (although tonight retrained for the first time).  I noticed that the 1800HG is running firmware version 3.7.5.  After some exchange of emails with 2WIRE I was advised that the ISPs have complete control of the firmware that is pushed onto the routers.  They also told me that only versions 4 & above will handle ADSL2.
Given that neither my BT exchange nor PN are yet implementing ADSL2+ is the firmware upgrade something that I have to wait for, or can I ask for an early image to upload manually?
What version is your 1800HG running (assuming you haven't flashed it with the various images available on the web from other countries)?

Re: 2WIRE 1800HG ADSL2+ firmware upgrade

I've got a 2700HGV which is running the BT default firmware and haven't had any issues.
My line attn improved and synch speed improved.
I've thought about flashing it with a different firmware but I don't see any point yet.
Know it's a different router but though my experience might be useful.

Re: 2WIRE 1800HG ADSL2+ firmware upgrade

It's reporting 4.25.33 which is the oldest BT firmware for the router according to forums at the scream.

Re: 2WIRE 1800HG ADSL2+ firmware upgrade

The thing is that your 2700HG has a different firmware (more functions) than the older 1800HG has.  I tried to upgrade the firmware online from two different ISPs (PlusNet and AOL) and on both occasions the response was that I have the latest firmware for the 1800HG (version 3.7.5) and that I should check back later.  The 3.7.5 is definitely not ADSL2+ compatible - so the question is what do owners of the 1800HG do after ADSL2+ is activated on their line?
What's PN's advice on this?
