2704n router speed drops during day

Hi all

Doing a speed test about 5am and I normally get between 15 and 16 meg.

Doing it again like now for example (11:45 am), and I'm barely getting 5 meg!

I've done this 'test' for a number of days now and still get the same result. Everything has stayed the same. For example, the wifi channel is optimal regardless the time of day. Known devices closeby are also the same.

So what could be causing this huge speed drop?

I'd like to add that there was no problem with the Tg582 router.

Thanks.

Hi there, it would really help if you're able to run the same test at the same time whilst connected to the router via a network cable.

Would that be possible for you to try?

Re: 2704n router speed drops during day

@adamwalker - Hi Adam. At the moment, the speed has gone back to normal (i.e. between 15 and 16 meg).

And I think I may have found what was causing the problem. Too many devices sharing the wifi connection in the house. It seems if there's 5 or more of them, it leads to this massive speed loss.

I could be wrong but incidentally I've only got about 3 on wifi now, and everything's ok so far.

If that really is the problem, then I'm shocked that the new router can't handle such a low amount of devices (using the wifi at the same time).
