256 Kbps download speeds (after two and half years)

I have been with plus net for quite some time and mostly get speeds >8Mbps.
However, from around 9-10 days my dsl broadband has slowed down to 256Kbps. I tested with BT wholesale speed test and the IP profile has been reduced to .25 Mbps
The voice line is crystal clear - so not sure what's happening. I have tried 3 different modems (including the one I am using since beginning) and all 3 can only connect at 288/440 Kbps. However attainable download rate is shown 17K...

I would say that your line has been set to a BANDED PROFILE due to some severe issue with your broadband connection.
Run through the tests in the Plusnet Broadband Troubleshooter, and that will give the faults engineers the answers they need in order to investigate your problem.

Thanks for your reply - I used the troubleshooter on 7th May. All it did was raised a question in member centre...the status says we are currently looking into it and if it is a new fault can take 24 hrs to resolve. Question # 85318066.

I've just taken a look over your line and can see that it is indeed chronically banded. This graph may explain why the banding is on your line:

Can you think of any reason as to why the connection dropped when it did?
I've reset your line which should bring your speeds back up to normal .If your connection starts to drop again, please take a look at this: http://community.plus.net/library/broadband/broadband-faults-guide-frequent-disconnection-fault-dcn/

Thanks a lot mate. This seems to have done the trick.
It's hard to say why there are so many disconnections - but both times are seem to be when I was trying to troubleshoot with various modems.
