Re: 21CN Enablement

My local Exchange has brought forward the date for 21CN from 1st Quarter 2010 to 18 Nov. 2008. A very pleasant surprise to have received this message from BT yesterday. I am sure that PlusNet will give us all the advantage of a higher speed as soon as possible.

Re: 21CN Enablement

How do the per port wholesale costs of the wbc service compare to Max ports?
I'd like to go wbc (exchange enablement august '08) but as it's only going to gain me around 500Kbps I'm not too keen on paying 24Mbs prices for it....
Will there be a queue for people wanting to converting over?
Can I be near the front this time Smiley

Re: 21CN Enablement

What does this mean for current ADSLmax customers. Will those lucky enough to get speeds over 3-4Mbps get speeds of up to 4 times faster, and what effect will it have for those whose speeds are limited by line length (500kbps).
What is the difference between 21CN WBC and PSTN?

Re: 21CN Enablement

It won't make a huge different for most of us from what I've heard.
I get somewhere between 1.5 and 2.5 at home (depending upon the weather), and I won't get much more on 21CN.
However, I get almost the full 8 at work with an 8128 sync, so I should see a large uplift in speed there.

Re: 21CN Enablement

Is there a source anywhere that relates 21CN speeds (supposed, best guess etc) with upto-8Mbit speeds, in terms of things like current speed or attenuation or distance from exchange etc.
AFAIK It's a non-linear relationship?

Re: 21CN Enablement

Wahoo 18th of November for Chester North. Won't see any faster speeds downstream but will finally get better upload speeds. Might be able to continue playing games now while others are on the webcom  Cool

Re: 21CN Enablement

Would anyone know if the fact that my nearest main town (newbury) is on the CN21 list,
do those of us on subsidiary excahnges off it ie with same prefix, are any
more likely to get it on our small exchages.
Some time after I'd presume. Grin

Re: 21CN Enablement

The latest news on the 21CN WBC rollout can be found at http://www.samknows.com/broadband/
I notice that my exchange was enabled for 21CN WBC on 28th March 2008 but that the 21CN PSTN switchover target is Q3 2009.
If for example PlusNet offered an ADSL2+ service, would both of the above have to be implemented for ADSL2+ to operate over a given line or is only the 21CN WBC element required?
