21 CN WBC

I've just found out that my exchange has been updated apparently! Currently, I am using a very old Buffalo router (9+ years old!!) which can't cope with ADSL2+ but I've been given a much modern TP-Link -if I plug that in and resynch with the exchange will it automatically connect at the higher speeds ? or do PN still have to tweak from their end?

Re: 21 CN WBC

As long as the router support ADSL2+ it should be fine. We'll need to place an order to upgrade you to ADSL2+ though.
If you give Chris Purvey a nudge, he loves doing those sort of things.
The TP Link kit generally seems to get decent reviews on here.

Thanks James, these are my favourites Smiley
It looks like you're not due to be ADSL2 enabled until the 2nd November.

You can either give us a nudge here or raise a ticket at http://contactus.plus.net and we'll get that arranged for you. Should see a nice increase in speed for you though.

Re: 21 CN WBC

Thanks for the info James -  been struggling ALL afternoon to get all my devices connected to the new router using WPA2 security - finally cracked this old  laptop 5 minutes ago!!!
OK Chris - I'm surprised tho' - one of my neighbours is with TalkTalk (spit) -not LLU'd yet on our exchange. -and he claims he gets 13Mb
also -looking at Samknows - 21CN WBC enabled 31/8/13 for exchange SWXUU

Re: 21 CN WBC

According to BT's list (Sept 1 update) that exchange was due for WBC (21CN) upgrade in August.
[quote=http://usertools.plus.net/exchanges/]BT have announced a ready for service date for this exchange. The estimated go live date is between 1st August 2013 and 31st August 2013.
This was last updated 1st September 2013
The October list isn't available yet to check if it was.

Re: 21 CN WBC

Thanks spraxyt ; guess I'll wait for a few weeks -then try a ticket to upgrade to adsl2+ -not desperate because I'm getting 6.8Mb d/l speeds anyway, which, with only me in the house during the day, is plenty!!

Re: 21 CN WBC

When you first get moved our your upload will likely be 448 - if so immediately post on here to ask for the upload cap to be removed. You should see a very significant increase in upload speed.

Re: 21 CN WBC

@ jelv - According to the online calculators ,on my attn/current SNRM, I should be able to get 17 Mb/1.3Mb connection. If so, won't need to worry about fibre for a while!

Re: 21 CN WBC

Remember bear in your mind that ADSL2+ can add +2dB on your line attn and snr of 6 (default by BT) could be lower than 17Mb thought. Probably around 13-14Mb. It happen to mine as my ADSL (up to 8Mbps) use to be 27dB on line attn but increasing to 31dB on ADSL2+

Re: 21 CN WBC

My attenuation is 17.8 and the SNRM 11.8 at the moment, so hopefully when I get onto ADSL2+, it'll be a bit higher than13-14Mb! Smiley

Re: 21 CN WBC

your attenuation 17.8 is pretty very good. You probably get around 18-19 Meg easy if the snr is at 6dB not 12dB.
