Re: 20 bytes per second

Right James
New Buffalo router in place but problem persists.
Anotjer strange issue is that when i type a web address it finds it and connects but takes forever to load the page.
If i search for the site in google and click on the link it loads much faster

Re: 20 bytes per second

Right, thanks.
I've fired it back at BT who'll shortly pass the fault back to us to get engineer times.
One other thing - Have you tried using non-Plusnet DNS servers? Or to actually specify on the router to use ours?

Re: 20 bytes per second

Hiya,
As discussed on the phone, you should have an engineer between 0800-1300 tomorrow.
I'll try to give you a ring once it's done.

Re: 20 bytes per second

I don't think this is a problem that's affecting just one user. My browsing speeds are as bad at times.

Re: 20 bytes per second

SeanM, I think newmills problem is more likely to be an exchange fault rather than the problems that you, I and some others are seeing periodically.

I am paying PlusNet for a service which PlusNet are not providing.
My connection has degraded substancially since November and now is totally unuseable.

You are paying PlusNet for a service which they are providing, however you are unable to receive due to (what sound like) either problems with your phone line and/or exchange.
I wold also like to 'chip in' that I feel we are all very lucky to have PlusNet staff willing to spend time reading and posting on these forums, even out of their normal working hours, and this should not be taken for granted. There are far too many companys out there who don't know the true meaning of Customer Service. Touch wood, should I ever need to contact PlusNet urgently over a serious issue (such as no connection etc) I would do it by phone.
Not trying to rise to anything here, just spending my two pence worth...

Re: 20 bytes per second

seem to be back up to speed after a 48 hour break in service - no conformation on ticket as to what the fault was though !

Now that is something that an awful lot of people would be interested to know.
You did have a very strange problem, so it will be fascinating to know the cause - and solution.

Re: 20 bytes per second

Kind of.
BT reported that there was a fault on the NCIF, but I'm not actually sure what that means Cheesy
I'm sorry noone got back to you to see how things were going.  I'd meant to last night, but then got preoccupied with a bunch of process related stuff I had to write.
If the fault had been raised via the CSC, you would have had a call back, it was because I raised the fault as a "personal issue" that it was down to me to get in touch.
