My "fault" was caused by going on holiday for 7 days. Every time I use the router (mostly in the evening), I switch it off at the wall - always have done this. Why is this suddenly a problem - are we not supposed to be saving the planet by turning electrical appliances off...??!!
So, from 4mb to 160kbps, and no coherent answer as to why, and no sign of an improvement, I think I'll be leaving Plusnet next week. Especially now that its affecting my work. Poor stuff.

If you decide to leave - moving to another supplier other than LLU will take your problem with you.
Have you raised a ticket using the fault reporting system

Current line speed from the link ;
Estimated line speed:
3.0 - Checked on 2010-05-12 13:40:13
Current line speed:
250
Wonder why the line speed was last checked on 12th May? Had been running at "allegedly" 4 to 4.5Mb since startup last November.
BT Speed Checker ;
Download speedachieved during the test was - 88 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 50-250 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :2528 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 135 Kbps
Again, similar info was passed to Plusnet beginning of the week, interweaving(?) has been turned on (or asked to be turned on).
Have also asked about the profile - no response either.
Thanks,
gm

The fact that the Plusnet value is 250 and the BT speedtest value is 135 tells me that you had another very low sync at some time in the past 12 hours approx.
Your default noise margin has been increased to 15dB due to the problems with your line.
The first thing we need to do is to check the router stats when connected to the test socket with nothing else connected.
Note that with that attenuation you should be getting much better speeds even with a 15dB noise margin.
Are you absolutely sure that everything connected to the phone line is filtered including a Sky box

I have an old socket which does not have the Test input, so cannot do that.
I got rid of Sky last year, so have no connection with them. The only device connected to any socket in the house is my router, and for 24 hours, I had removed the phone line - which had no effect. I only have two other extension sockets which are not used.
Thanks,
gm

You don't specifically say if you have raised a fault report by starting this wizard https://faults.plus.net/applications.php?Module=Faults but this is the first stage for getting the fault properly investigated

With so many people seemingly having the same issue(s), I find it strange that Wholesale are not the first port of call. I know how difficult it is to get BT to look at a fault, communicate internally, as unfortunately I have to get a lot of EES/SDSL circuits checked through as part of my day job...
What really gets me is this issue with dropping your profile down to such a low level. I would expect to pay a proportional amount of what I pay for this broadband service if PN attitude is to refer to BT wholesale and wait for 72hrs every time it happens.
Looks like I wont be working from home on Monday.....

I've just checked this and have added an update to your support ticket. Our suppliers have cleared the fault back to us which is common with this type of issue.
I have requested further investigation and have set myself a reminder to check this again later for you.
