Re: 1 month of usless BB

I think the BT performance tester works only on maxDSL lines, so it looks like you are back to a BT connection at last. I assume the change has just been done so your IP profile will start at the default 2M while the exchange equipment determines an appropriate value, which will be 7150kbps for that sync speed. The IP profile should update soon, then be communicated to Plusnet for the High-speed Broadband setting in Memeber Centre.
The phone call response you mentioned is extremely poor and I cannot believe you got that from Plusnet's CSC staff. My guess it was an engineer fixing your line at the exchange, not that that makes it satisfactory. Please put this aside for now, my interprestation of your BT test results is that the long running saga you've had is coming to an end.

Hi doomreaper.
I hope this is now sorted for you.
With regards the response from the CSC agent, that is totally unacceptable and you have my promise that I'll follow this up on Monday morning.

Re: 1 month of usless BB

Doing speed tests at the present time often gives slow speeds since free-period downloading is at its height. However that is poor, suggesting possible exchange congestion.  What does at test on http://www.mybroadbandspeed.co.uk/ give you?

Re: 1 month of usless BB

Your router stats are very good, but speed results definitely aren't. What VP capacity status is shown for your exchange on the UserTools checker here?

Re: 1 month of usless BB

Hi Doomreaper,
I'm glad to see that you're back on the BT Network.
What sort of speeds are the BT Speedtester giving you at "normal" times of the day?

Re: 1 month of usless BB

Hiya,
There's absolutely nothing wrong with your sync speeds.  In fact they're actually really good.
The problem you're suffering from is poor throughput, which appears to be exchange related.  Hopefully BT will add some further VP capacity to your exchange before long, which should result in an improvement to your speed Smiley

Re: 1 month of usless BB

oh boy , i meant it will hopefully settle at a reasonable transfer speed, not sync , sorry wasnt awake .
hrm improve our exchange, its the main one in teh city centre. improve yes, degrade more like lol, they will of course be making sure the international lines for bussines get priority. its is also earmarked for upgrade ending January next year, which from past history will more like be January 2010. ah well the joys of modern living.
oh and my iwfes line runs through teh same exchange, she has a stable 4 meg line and the most degredation i ve seen is a drop from 4 to 3,96 , so erm .. i think someone dosnt like me .
