voip app for iPad

I have been using sjphone for plusnet voip on my pc. Now I have an iPad I was hoping I could get some advice on which app I could use for my voip on the iPad.

Re: voip app for iPad

Try 3CX https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/3cxphone-voip-sip-softphone/id392927995?mt=8 . I've used it on Windows and Android and it works pretty well.

Re: voip app for iPad

Installed 3CX on the iPad and configured to register ok.
Problem is when I make a call the other person can hear me but I cannot hear them.
In the settings there does not appear to be any way to fine tune the audio.

Check the settings against this thread http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,105729.msg901971.html#msg901971

For 3CXPhone:
Name & display name are just there for your benefit - you can put anything in, even the PSTN number.
User & ID - you put in your extension number for both.
Password, well you should know what that is.
Local PBX IP - sip.plus.net
External PBX - either leave blank or just repeat.
PBX Port - 5060
STUN - leave as is or delete it.
Proxy - nat.plus.net:5082
And last one to change:
Local SIP port - 5060
and RPMs later comment in this thread http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,109558.0.html

See my reply to this thread for the settings, although now I've found out that it's best to use the 'External PBX' & 'SIP account' rather than 'In Office', when 'roaming' and not using your PN connection.

Re: voip app for iPad

Thanks for that, I did not have the local SIP port set to 5060, so I have changed that.
I had it set as sip2.plus.net, however I tried sip.plus.net and it would not register, I switched back to sip2plus.net and it did register.
However when I place a call I still cannot hear the other person.

Re: voip app for iPad

What router are you using ? the standard PlusNet TG582n ?
If so, it might be worth trying to unbind the SIP alg although it really shouldn't be a problem when using the o/b proxy.
You need to Telnet into the router and use the CLI to issue the following commands
Quote
connection unbind application=SIP port=5060
saveall
see here for information http://npr.me.uk/telnet.html

Re: voip app for iPad

Ok, another approach to try and identify where the problem is:-

I have been using sjphone for plusnet voip on my pc.
Does that still work  ?
Is it connected at the same time ? if so try without sjphone connected ?
You could try downloading and configuring 3CX for the PC to see if it's an iPad or 3CX problem ?

Re: voip app for iPad

SJPhone won't register. I have set up Xlite on the PC and it works fine.
I have been trying the 3CX on the iPad with the pc off.
I will try the windows version of 3CX and see if I can get that to work.
Thank for your advice Smiley

That tends to imply it's not a router issue.
It's either a 3CX setup or an iPad issue. trying 3CX on the PC should sort out which, I hope.
