The Linksys PAPT2 should be fine as it is a standard SIP ATA.  Note that the unit you've found is in China though.

There's loads on eBay... That was one I was looking at when I posted here... Smiley
Think I'm gonna go with that and just buy a cordless phone for it...
Thanks

Re: Would this work with plusnet VOIP

I believe other Plusnet customers do use Linksys PAP2T.
However -

  • That item is coming from China so you don't know whether it is a fake.

  • That price is about the going rate for these secondhand or 'like new' from UK sellers, so it isn't a bargain price.

  • When buying "PAP2T" ensure that is "Unlocked" (like the one listed), as many on eBay are locked to "Vonage".

  • I would be wary of that part number ending in "-NA",
as that often indicates only for use in North America that use a different telephone system !
You should be looking for one that ends in "-UK" to be compatible with BT line characteristics.

So NO,  I wouldn't buy that !  Cry

Wouldn't the N.A and u.k be due to firmware. Not hardware... As I know this is the case with netgear

Re: Would this work with plusnet VOIP

I don't know whether there are hardware implications between the UK and NA models.
Some sites say -
Quote
Port Impedance Eight Configurable Setting Including North America 600 ohms, European CTR21
Ring Voltage 60 - 90 Vrms

Whether the ring voltages, line impedance, and ring capacitors are software selectable, or are different hardware versions, you need to check before you buy.

With a quick google you can find sellers that state -

Not to be used in the UK with 2 ports for Voice-over-IP
which seems to be an unusual statement if you were going on the assumption that this was a universal device with software selectable interface characteristics.
