Voip Trial - List of outstanding issues?

Hi Guys,
I'm trying to collate the remaining reported issues with our Voip trial before we move onto the next phase (The criteria for which is that we have a stable trial platform).
Reading the threads here, it's quite hard to see which reported problems are still 'live' and which have been solved.
I was hoping that anyone here who still had an outstanding issue could post a brief synopsis and link to the other thread where you last reported the issue.
I will also be getting a new forum created this week to help us co-ordinate our responses to the triallists, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their help in building the new platform.

Re: Voip Trial - List of outstanding issues?

Ian,
I have a Vigor 2700VG set up with a Sipgate account on one line and the Plusnet Beta on the other.
If I call from Sipgate to 000472<plusnet SIP> I get the "is unavailable" message and voicemail activates.
If I call from Sipgate to 000472<44my plusnetPSTNnumber> the call goes through OK.
To call my Sipgate account from the Plusnet one I have to use
**777<44my Sipgate landline number>.
I don't appear to get charged for these calls.
Question: why doesn't peering work with the SIP number and prefix as advertised?

I have a Draytek Vigor 2800VG and still have two problems outstanding:-
1) The Gradwell SIP server is telling my router that registration expires every 25 seconds. I think this is a common problem with everyone on the trial.
2) SIP Peering does not work when using the **777 prefix to connect to a Sipgate number or **472 prefix to connect to my Plusnet number (with the extension numbers). Error 404.

The Gradwell peering number is variously quoted as:
**472
***472
000472
I find 000472 is the only one that works.

Re: Voip Trial - List of outstanding issues?

Using a cordless DECT phone with a Thomson Speedtouch 780wl router (software release 6.2.17.5):
  •  All incoming calls are terminated after 1 minute and 28 seconds.    {http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,57648.msg472386.html#msg472386}
  •  Outgoing calls are terminated at unpredictable times.  {http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,57648.msg472719.html#msg472719}
  •  The router registers with the VOIP service every 28 seconds, whereas it is set to register every hour. {http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,57648.msg472016.html#msg472016}

The Management Website:
  •  Billing doesn’t seem to work correctly.  On the ‘Broadband Phone 120’ tariff, daytime calls are not charged to the credit balance, instead the minutes are deducted from the evening and weekend allowance. {http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,57648.msg471557.html#msg471557}
  •  On the ‘Billed Call Downloads’ page, two numbers are displayed; my own number and someone else’s number.
{http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,57648.msg472478.html#msg472478}
  •  On the ‘Record New Voice Prompt’ page, the information provided is incorrect for those who use an ordinary telephone attached to a VOIP router. {http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,57648.msg472445.html#msg472445}

Re: Voip Trial - List of outstanding issues?

Hello Ian,
So far I've had very few issues with the VoIP Beta trial; I found it easy to configure, I've had no connection problems, and the sound quality is really very good.  The only issue I've experienced is being unable to receive incoming calls on the PSTN number assigned to my account; calls made to my PSTN number disconnect immediately upon dialing.
I'm using a NETGEAR DG834PN modem /router, and an EyeBeam softphone.
Regards,
Shan

1 - Have you got SIP ALG turned off? Gradwell are looking into this for us, so I will let you know if they find anything.
2 - What issue does this actually cause? It's by design I think...

This seems to be a quirk of the manual process we are using to create accounts. Gradwell are looking into it, and we are keeping an eye out for it happening again.
In the mean time I have fixed this for you and that number should be working fully within the next 15 minutes.

1 Yes Sip ALG off, Should it be on?
2 What is the point of the expire time of 1 hour (3600) if it registers every 28 sec .....I think you think wrong.
And surely their is a network bandwidth cost of the short registration time

Rich,
I don't think it actually causes any issues. It's just that it shouldnt be reregistering at that frequency. It will cause significant additional network traffic if it continues to do that when the system goes live in general use. For example if I leave my router logged on the voip account it nearly quadruples my normal daily 'background' traffic.
