VoIP Offline

Yeseterday my VoIP worked with X-Lite OK, today I went to use it and all it states is " Registration Error 401"
I went into my Account Overview, where it stated I was "Offline Since 2008-07-21  22.30.25"
I then checked my Extention number where that stated "Expired @  2008-07-21  22.30.25"
I have changed nothing since I hung up yesterday when all worked, can anyone shed some light on what might be wrong
and what I need to do to correct it

Re: VoIP Offline

Can you post your settings for me please and let me know what hardware you have in the loop - e.g. router with firewall settings and client settings.
We did have a problem which caused this but it was fixed last week - its possible that the fix may not of captured your account hence the settings question is up first  Tongue

Re: VoIP Offline

Hi, I just logged into my account and noticed it stated "offline since 2008-07-21 17:34:30".
Ringing the geographic number went straight to voicemail.
I'm pretty sure that it uses sip2 throughout (which was working before). I'm using the Siemens C460IP setup with Puddy's previously posted settings. Not aware of anything having changed - I can try swapping to sip rather than sip2 but any other thoughts? Not in front of system at the moment so limited to what I can try  Undecided
Thanks

Just checked X-Lite, no change, still no service, same 401 error
Changed sip2 to sip, still no service.

Re: VoIP Offline

I've just tested with your account details and SJPhone registered the account almost instantaneously - I was then able to make a sip-to-sip call to my own desk phone and it rang first time round. Please could you try with SJPhones instead?

Re: VoIP Offline

OK well I switched sip2 to sip on the C460IP rig and it rang this time. So I guess that's progress. Saying that, the N95 settings have sip2 galore and it rang ring when I tried it when I got in (unlike the C460IP).
So pleased it's working but less than convinced I can reasonably give out the IP phone number as I really don't know what is making it work and what is making it fail. Or could it be anything to do with the ** patch that was applied last week which would clearly affect the C460IP?  Huh

I have just installed SJ Phone and all I get is "Service Unavailable Authentication failed"
So I installed it on my laptop which has not been used for VoIP before and guess what !  it failed with the same reason
Surely the fault is not with me

Re: VoIP Offline

The fact this fails, may suggest the wrong password is being used and the authentication failed message means what it says on the tin.
Remember, the password to login to the VoIP portal, differs to that if your SIP password.
I would suggest changing your SIP password, which can be done by logging into the VoIP portal, going to your extension under account summary and changing the password here.
You will need to allow upto 20 minutes for this to be effective on the authentication server.

Re: VoIP Offline

You must remember, I have been using this service OK up until the 21st, then it went wrong.
There was no authentication error before this.
However, I have just been informed by support that they have reset my password in case it was corrupt
and all now works OK
Thanks to all who tried to help  Smiley Smiley Smiley

They changed mine last time without telling me, but they blamed my equipment for over a week before they told me
Whats going on plusnet with these password changes?
A cs agent tested my account and changed the password for testing purposes then forgot to reset back to my old password
Puddy
ps sip.plus.net has worked for over 12 days now without a problems

No, that's a node in our hosted pbx platform, not the "newsip" platform which drives the plusnet service.
