Sporadic Inbound Audio Issues

If someone calls into my number... sometimes I get incomming audio, the rest of the time I dont, its about 20/80 for audio to none..
If I dial out, all is well, every time!
Any thoughts about the cause of this...
Connection HW: Trixbox Enterprise & Cisco 7970G

Re: Sporadic Inbound Audio Issues

Lets have a look at your advanced settings, could be a codec issue.

Re: Sporadic Inbound Audio Issues

Trunk registers with;
allow=ulaw&alaw
authuser=NNNNNNN
canreinvite=no
context=ext-did
fromdomain=sip2.plus.net
fromuser=NNNNNNN
host=sip2.plus.net
insecure=very
ouboundproxy=nat.plus.net
outboundport=5082
qualify=3000
secret=PPPPPPP
type=peer
username=NNNNNNN
So from that, the codecs in use are alaw and ulaw

Re: Sporadic Inbound Audio Issues

hmmmm...Gradwell have previously advised that they currently do not support this piece of kit but i've found you some pretty decent info which will help solve this  Grin
It seems that the Trixbox has problems with any codec apart from G729 (which doesnt come as standard stock) and as such you'll need to install it.
Theres a full PDF guide on setting up the Trixbox at this link: <a href="http://dumbme.voipeye.com.au/trixbox/trixbox_without_tears.pdf"> Trixbox setup guide</a>
(link came from http://www.voipuser.org/forum_topic_7607.html)
On page 33 it tells you how to install the G729 codec which should solve your problems.
Its slightly long winded but i think you'll find that the audio is far more stable after you install it.

Re: Sporadic Inbound Audio Issues

any news on whether this has worked? I'm keen to understand if this was the issue - also its another piece of kit we can add to the Gradwell knowledge base.

Re: Sporadic Inbound Audio Issues

audio has been rock solid since this move, and the line setups are prefect, they work every time. I have a setup guide to make it work if you want, but apart from that... you can go ahead and add it to the list!

Re: Sporadic Inbound Audio Issues

yes, please, lets take a look at it!
Glad this has worked out - must admit I worried when Gradwell advised that they have never supported it before.

Re: Sporadic Inbound Audio Issues

Simple Setup - Trixbox
Sorry about the delay!
Create a sip trunk, in the outbound settings, trunk name put in the full number of the trunk (01xxxx etc)
Peer details:
allow=g729&g723
authuser=UUUUUUU
canreinvite=no
context=ext-did
disallow=all
fromdomain=sip2.plus.net
fromuser=UUUUUUU
host=sip2.plus.net
insecure=very
ouboundproxy=nat.plus.net
outboundport=5082
qualify=3000
secret=PPPPPPP
type=peer
username=UUUUUUU
Incomming settings (user context) UUUUUUU
Details: Blank
registration string: UUUUUUUTonguePPPPPP@sip2.plus.net/UUUUUUU
Create an inbound route, and in the DID Number box, put in your username (UUUUUUU) and set the destination
Go into outbound routes, select 0_9 Outside and in the trunk sequence, select your number (will show as SIP/0xxxxxxx etc) , submit, apply the changes and you are good to go Smiley
