Registation problems 25/11/08 - Gradwell Service Status

NewSIP registration problem
November 25th, 2008 1:35 pm
Our server team are currently investigating a problem with the NewSIP system.  Our NewSIP database is not currently available, which will prevent registrations on the system.  This service should be restored very shortly and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.

If this lasts for more than a short while, Plusnet may want to get their own Service Status updated.

It's now 16.03 and I still cannot register using my VOIP router or Zoiper so there is still a problem.

I have restarted Zoiper a number of times but it is still not registering.
I have also just tried registering voip on my N95 and that also cannot register. As both of these cannot register I have not bothered rebooting the router as I don't want to get a lower synch rate.
I am on a very long line and only just synch at 2272kbps, so if I reboot in the afternoon or evening I get a lower synch rate and drop from a 2meg profile to a 1750 or even 1500 profile.

It reflects badly on either the CPE or Gradwell's system if that's necessary Bob.
I can't register at the moment, despite issuing a specific instruction. The Plusnet line is our backup, so I'm not going to re-boot our SIP PBX until the working day is over. Our principal account is working fine & I don't want any calls going to voicemail while it restarts.
I'll report back this evening if it fails to register after a reboot.

Can't register with 2 different devices at different locations since 13:00ish.

For some odd reason, it now seems happy to log in to sip2.plus.net, but not to sip.plus.net. Both these resolve to the same two servers, v-sip-floating-1.gradwell.net & v-sip-floating-2.gradwell.net

I can concur with @Simon M, can register with sip2.plus.net but not sip.plus.net.

Same here. Zoiper registers with sip2.plus.net and no need to close and reopen it to get it to register after changing to sip2.

Very odd.
sip.plus.net, sip2.plus.net & newsip.gradwell.net all resolve to 79.135.125.154, 79.135.125.155
These return rDNS records of v-sip-floating-1.gradwell.net & v-sip-floating-2.gradwell.net respectively.
I can register under every one of these seven names & numeric addresses, except sip.plus.net
As this is the only one we are supposed to be using these days, a little investigation is going to be necessary.

Sip.plus.net still not working this morning and I am surprised to see that the service status for broadband phone is green. Shouldn't a service status be sent out specifying the work around?
Are Gradwell working on the problem? I ask as I have a device that the settings are not easy to modify. It require a xml file to be edited, converted and downloaded to the target. So I don't want to do this if the problem going to be fixed in the next 24 hours.

I'll get something out shortly advising to use sip2.plus.net for now until sip.plus.net is working again.
Does seem odd that one works and the other doesn't when they both point to the same IP addresses.
