Linksys PAP2T with Thomson TG585 v8

Hi,
My VOIP used to work fine with a BT Voyager 2110 router.
However that router failed & has been replaced with a Thomson TG585 v8. I get a dialling tone OK, & appear to be able to dial a number.....but then hear nothing.
The number I'm dialling apparently rings OK, but there is 'nobody there' when they answer.
Does anyone know if there is a setting I have to change somewhere? Or something else I have to do?
Thanks,
Arthur

Have you got the Plusnet outbound proxy ( natproxy.plus.net:5082 ) configured on the papt2 ?

Re: Linksys PAP2T with Thomson TG585 v8

I really don't know......& cannot recollect what (if anything) I had to do to configure the PAP2T when I installed it originally wither the BT Voyager.
Where would I find the settings? (Sorry to appear a bit dense!)
For further info when I tried calling my landline I could hear myself talking from VOIP to landline, but not from landline to VOIP.
(The 'nobody there' effect was obviously because I wasn't saying anything!)
Thanks,
Arthur

I think you'll find the Plusnet settings for the pap2t here http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,80208.0.html

Re: Linksys PAP2T with Thomson TG585 v8

Thanks for that - I'm up & running again. Hardest part was trying to remember how/where to change settings (I'd completely forgotten about putting the IP address into my browser).
Anyway changing Outbound proxy to what you suggested has worked fine.
Is that sort of thing documented anywhere? Or is it just one of those things one is supposed to know intuitively?
Thanks again,
Arthur

Re: Linksys PAP2T with Thomson TG585 v8

The general settings for PlusNet voip are here http://www.plus.net/support/phone/broadband_phone/howtouse.shtml
The problem is that since Plusnet don't supply the voip hardware they can't obviously provide the detailed settings for all devices so you are expected to be able to translate the generic settings into those appropriate for your hardware.
I'm not sure if you are aware, but its actually Gradwell who host the PlusNet voip service. Since they also provide their own voip products on a more general basis sometimes you can find useful information for other hardware on their own support site http://www.gradwell.com/support/kb/category.php?id=1. From their setup guides, in general, all you need to do is replace the domain and outbound proxy url's with the PlusNet ones
