Is the Thompson TG585 Router not a good partner for a VoIP phone??

Hi there
I've been having lots of problems with my Siemens C475IP cutting my broadband connection.  It works fine for about 1½ hours then it packs up!
I've been told upgrading the router may help as the Thompson one I have (TG585 v7) isn't ideal for VoIP.
Someone's suggested a Dray Tek one.
Does anyone have any thoughts?
Thanks!

The Thomson isn't the world's best router by any means, however it shouldn't be giving a problem with the C475.
Draytek routers are pretty good but they are a little expensive.

Re: Is the Thompson TG585 Router not a good partner for a VoIP phone??

i have tried the following routers in the past 6 months ranging in price free £0.99 to £96
1. Speedtouch 716wl
2. Speedtouch TG585v7
3. Draytek 2700n
Did you get your Speedtouch TG585v7 from Plusnet? if so they are having problems with them, see if you can find a more up to date firmware for it to see if it solves the problem.
I do like my draytek router and have found it easier to setup than the one i owned 8 years ago.  Draytek routers are considered a professional devices, but the new range of routers are now being targeted to home user now
I consider my Gigaset C460IP voip my most reliable device voip i own and I also find my Draytek router the best I router I have its doesn’t lose connection as much as my Speedtouch routers

Yep, just to echo what puddy's saying here you might have some difficulties using our router without a firmware upgrade so do shout up if we need to arrange that for you.

@ Adam
As I may well be becoming a voiper and use PN's 585v7, may I ask what firmware issue the upgrade is to? Mine is 8.2.6.5.
No one has to agree with my opinion, but in the time I have left a miracle would be nice.

Firmware version 8.2.6.5 is the latest available for the TG585v7.
