Hardward Phone Keeps Unregistering / Registering

Hi
I was working fine...Now whilst sitting at my dek I am noticing that my Grandstream 2020 seems to keep unregistering every couple of minutes and then registering again (for those of you who have a 2000 or 2020 you will know that the line goes from bold to normal and then back to bold again in the display).
I have a sipgate line on the same phone and it not exhibiting the same problem.
Anyone with any ideas on what setting I may need to change to stop this happening?
Thanks, Paxy

Re: Grandstream 2020 Keeps Unregistering

Do you have unique RTP ports for each server?
I don't have these issues with the 2000, but I do find SipGate wont register any more.

Re: Grandstream 2020 Keeps Unregistering

each account is on it's own port (ie plusnet is on 5060, sipgate 5062 etc...)
Is that what you meant?

Re: Grandstream 2020 Keeps Unregistering

Exactly what I meant.
Are you using any SIP clients in your local network as well?

Re: Hardward Phone Keeps Unregistering / Registering

Hi Puddy - thanks for that - I will give it a go now...
(interestingly I did raise a ticket and the only thing that plusnet have asked me to change form my original settings was to set Nat Traversal (STUN) =no (I previsouly had it set to yes).
Would it be possible to post the advanced tab as well if you have time?
Mnay thanks, Paxy

Re: Hardward Phone Keeps Unregistering / Registering

Cheesy
interestingly I had Outbound Proxy set to nat.plus.net:5082 so I have changed it to sip2.plus.net as you suggest.  My only other difference is the NAT Traversal (STUN) which I originally had set to yes (I think that then refers to the STUN server on the advanced tab which I think was probably set to stun.xten.net or something similar).  Plusnet support asked me to set this to no.  All other settings seem to be identical (I have a few more which may be becuase I am on a slightly different phone or newer firmware?)
I will monitor how changing outbound proxy goes but would still appreciate the advanced settings if you get a chance puddy.
Getting the phone to stay online will be such a step forward!
Thanks, Paxy

for the time being use my settings to see if we can solve your problem if not we go back to plusnet

Re: Hardward Phone Keeps Unregistering / Registering

The Outbound Proxy has to be nat.plus.net:5082. The Outbound Proxy replace the stun server, hence the reason why the stun server has to be disabled. The function of the Outbound Proxy (and the stun server) is to keep the ports open through the NAT. See Gradwell settings for the GXP2000

outbound proxy is listed correctly their a setting for that further down see setup page below

The setting are on my own grandstream GXP2000 that works with no problem so i am just lending a hand to a fellow plusnet customer

Re: Hardward Phone Keeps Unregistering / Registering

Not sure what proxy this refer to. I have another device which has a Proxy Server which I have use the sip server settings. No wiser after reading the manual for the Grandstream page 33 and page 34.
[quote= Outbound Proxy]IP address or Domain name of Outbound Proxy, Media Gateway, or Session
Border Controller. Used for firewall or NAT penetration in different network
environment. If the system detects symmetric NAT, STUN will not work. ONLY
outbound proxy can provide solution for symmetric NAT.
[quote=Proxy Required]SIP Extension to notify SIP server that the unit is behind the NAT/Firewall.

Re: Hardward Phone Keeps Unregistering / Registering

ok puddy - thanks for that - great.  A few minor differences again with a couple of extra fields on mine and difference firmware upgrade options but other than that the same!
I am pleased to report that I have not seen the phone go offline this evening whilst I have been at my desk (although I did pop out and cut the grass  Wink )
Interestingly I have looked back at an old screen print of the settings that I had on the old plusnet platform and the outbound proxy was set to sip.plus.net.  I never had the same problem on the old platform so I am so hopeful that the problem is now solved.
Thanks again for your help - I will post again to let you know how it is going and also so anyone else with Grandstream can see the settings we have used to get it working.
hoorah!
