Dial tone & calling local numbers on Linksys PAP2

I have to say after a few teething problems which took me about an hour or so to sort out when first installed the PAP2 it is working really well and am well pleased with it.
I have two questions, my dial tone bleeps fast for about 3 seconds and then goes to a standard tone, is this something in the settings that needs adjusting?
And when I make a local call within my own exchange area  I get an obsolete tone unless I dial the full area code first.
Anyone any ideas on these or is it normal? Cheesy

The fast bleeps before the dial tone is an indication that you have voice mail. You need to dial *1 or log on to your account at http://voip.plus.net
It's normal to dial the full telephone number when using VoIP, in fact some VoIP supplier you have to dial the full international number.

i agree you do have to include the STD code when making all calls
For more info you could look at www.gradwell.com they have more info on the linksys PAP2 adapter.

ps I have the full uk dialing plan and setup to turn the pap2 adapter to work with the UK telephone network just e-mail me if you want them

Re: Dial tone & calling local numbers on Linksys PAP2

Thanks both, for your replies, I have checked and I don't have any voicemails, so sadly that can't be the answer, I have checked the Gradwell site, although it contains some useful tips it is sadly not a detailed resourse, but presumably will become more so as people use it and ask further questions.
I will e-mail you puddy for the Uk Dialling Plan.
Cheers

I have just recently signed up for Voip beta and also have a pap2 so please let me know if you come across some working settings.
To be fair my exisiting account works without many problems but it would appear that this is the way things are heading regardless  Smiley
