Android Phone

I have a GT-15500 Android phone and wondered if there was an app that would allow me to use it just with my own wi-fi connection as voip phone?
I currently use the speedtouch 780wl with the phone plugged in but was looking to upgrade the router and the router I have purchased doesn't have phone connection.
Any advice please
Mike

Re: Android Phone

I don't use either of them myself on Android but Fring or 3CX should both work ok. I've got Fring working on my son's iPhone.
There is also a thread here with some options http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,93759.0.html

Re: Android Phone

Thanks Bob - I'll have a go and see what results I get.
If all else fails I'll look up the price of a modern router with connection for voip phone though with the prices I have seen so far it would be cheaper to migrate to BT for 18 months and get their supposedly good system.  Not that I am likely to do that as I have had plenty of experience with BT call centres whilst helping out elderly neighbours who have had landline problems. In fact I have used the plusnet voip phone more often for making calls when our islands landline system has failed but left us with a broadband connection than for any other calls.

Re: Android Phone

http://www.androidzoom.com/android_applications/communication/csipsimple_fyvz.html - CSIP works well on my 2.3.3 android phone but 3CX didn't work (latest version of 3CX) - registered but when calling hangs up straightaway. CSIP fairly straightforward to setup (use advanced options) and quite a small installation.
