Accepting test SIP calls

If anyone needs to make a VOIP/SIP test call they can use my number 1992951@sipgate.co.uk  between the hours of 10am and 10pm.
Mention it is a "plusnet test call" when you start the conversation, this is a back-up business type phone and not my primary contact.
All I'll do is answer the call, but don't expect too much conversation :-)

Re: Accepting test SIP calls

Hello Alaric
Thank you for your offer.  I've tried dialling **77744 1992951 from my VoIP 'phone, but get the engaged tone.
Is the dialling code incorrect?

Re: Accepting test SIP calls

I've just checked. That phone is accepting calls.
Do you need the 44 country code? Does **7771992951 work?

Re: Accepting test SIP calls

Using the sipgate prefix, I would expect you to have to dial the phone number for the voip account rather than the 'sip id' .
Unless of course they are the same ...

Re: Accepting test SIP calls

Many thanks Alaric and MisterW.
I have dropped the "44" from the number I am dialling and it still returns the engaged tone.
Do you have a number for the VoIP Alaric, as suggested by MisterW?  My SIP ID is the same as in the Gradwell SIP address

Re: Accepting test SIP calls

sure the number is 02070992951 - I use it as a standby rather than one of the main lines

Re: Accepting test SIP calls

I've tried **777 02070992951 and that is engaged, too.
Maybe it's something at my end.  I've only used my VoIP connection for connecting with landline numbers.

Re: Accepting test SIP calls

Have you tried **77744 2070992951 ?
I have a sipgate account which I rarely use but IIRC I could never get the peering prefix to work correctly.
I guess your voip phone won't allow you to dial a sip URI ? ( sip:xxxxxxx@sipgate.co.uk ), I know my Gigaset C475 won't!.

Re: Accepting test SIP calls

Many thanks for your suggestion MisterW.  I've just used the number, ie including the "44" and it connects OK.
Alaric was kind enough to answer and 'though the quality was not that of a landline, it was OK.
Many thanks too, to Alaric for generously allowing this test to take place.
In response to your query MisterW, I use the ordinary house 'phones, though a 'phone adapter.  This system enables landline calls and VoIP calls to be made and received from the same handsets, preceding the dialled number by your own 3-digit code for landline connections.  Obviously, the SIP URL cannot be used.
