win xp problem - help!?!

Hi,

I am trying to set up my connection - which i do and it fails.

when I check the 'connection right click - properties - networking tab' i only have PPPoE, and cannot choose PPPoA.

This is Win XP pro - alcatel speed touch USB.

anyone help - or if you have xp can check yours.

i have waited 5 weeks to get connected and now this!

Hi,

This sounds like you have the wrong version of the drivers installed, have you installed the drivers from the original disk? If so make sure you don't update them using Windows update as this has been known to give you the american drivers which use PPPoE. You can get updated drivers from www.alcateldsl.com

I'm not sure if this is true, I used a normal DUN connection and could connect using the test login (although still cannot connect using my own login).

So should i setup a broadband or dun?
and if broadband how come dun works?

I downloaded the 1.6 driver and it works fine. I didn't make a DUN connection, there is an Alcatel Speedtouch Dial up connection, and I completed the details there.
I did the same in Win98, no DUN connection needed at all.

Did you have any joy sorting this out? I have a new XP pc and cant get the Alcatel modem to connect OK.

I would be grateful if you have any pointers.
