trouble accessing nearly everything at times

Quite often, I cannot acess anything i've tried except google, hotmail and msn messenger. This can be fixed by going to the connection settings, changing a network option in the advanced tab and reconnecting. However the same problem happens again later. I am using winXP, an alcatel speedtouch usb modem, and have internet connection sharing enabled.

I had the same problems on client machines when using XP's ICS. I recommend you turn it off and use freeproxy instead

stop the service dns client and see if that solves it. Go to control panel/admin tools /services and double click on dns client and stop the service.

Its a well known problem it caches dns but if dns is slow it gets know reply so it marks it as not there. Changing your dns settings clears the cache and it then work again until it get no reply again.

If this solves it there are reg hack to increase the timeout settings
