sygate personal firewall

Has anyone had problems with the free version under winxp?

I have recently rebuilt my OS from the ground up and the only difference is the firewall software the problems seems to be that if I leave the PC on for a period of time I loose my connection forcing me to reboot the modem and reconnect. I may add that the PC and modem control panel still shows a connection

Any help !!!! would be great

Cheers

RE: sygate personal firewall

My guess is you are using a USB modem.

This may be the cause of the issue. I seriously sugest upgrading any firmware and/or drivers to make sure the issues ha not allready been addressed.

See http://www.edslguide.org.uk/ for driver details, as ther may be recomended drivers for you to use.

USB modems are known for there power managment problems. They don't allways respond correctly, leaving windows in limbo as to wheather it is connected or not. This also causes two windows flags to be out of sync (one shwoing connected, the other showing "in power saving mode").
