Nothing is "normal" on this very unstable network some people get really good speeds others the opposite,

when you connect the little icon lets you know what speed you are connected at, in my case allways 576.0kbs, but this bears little relation to the speed you can download at you need to go to speedtest site like www.adslguide.org to check your DL/UL speeds

Read the PlusNet web page https://portal.plus.net/supportpages.html?bvIkeqvfDEk%3D which explains why & how if you are experiencing below par results.

I get a DN:576 connection and Dial-Up Networking Monitor (available free from http://jongrieve.net/dunmon) shows downloads consistently circa 500kbs

I am running an Alcatel Speed Touch pci card on Win2000 O/S

RE: speed

I get about 40 - 60KB/s download usually. The pluenet speed test today showed a connection speed of 523.000kbps which means theoretically I could download at 65.38 from plusnet's servers.
