regular ADSL disconnections

my router keeps losing it's connection about once a day at the moment... is this due to the ADSL problems plus.net seem to be having lately, or is it a line problem?

Me too, I'm currently in conversation with support over this. I usually lose connectivity every night, but sometimes in the morning. They suggested leaving the modem logged into bt_test_user@plus.net passwd test. This I did, and it still dropped. I await their reply, though they did say after I told them the result of that, that they'd report the problem to BT..

I couldn't get any connectivity for an hour this morning either (after I changed my login and pass back to what it should be), modem sync's and everything is ok, but I get 100% packet loss to the PPP gateway, so I guess the problems are still ongoing. Lets hope they're sorted soon Wink

RE: regular ADSL disconnections

"Ultra fast, always on" - seems a sick joke at the moment! I've had dropped connections as you describe but have now been without service over 12 hours. Sent message to support ("We're always here for you 24/7", "Average time to respond 45 mins, average time to close problems 1hr 20") - I haven't even had an acknowledgement 12 hours later!

If, as Plus Net suggest, the technical problems are down to BT, I hope their lawyers are negotiating compensation from BT which they can pass on to their customers who've been denied service.

I've been using an old LineOne pay as you go dial up since I lost DSL yesterday, and it doesn't seem much slower than DSL has been lately - and it's a lot cheaper!

RE: regular ADSL disconnections

I've had ADSL 'always on' for 6 weeks now. During that time I've lost my connection for 8+ hours at a stretch 4 times (currently still experiencing the latest one).

Have to say I'm not too impressed.

Plusnet just say it must be some local work at the exchange. You'd think they'd get onto BT on the usres bahalf, after all it's Plusnets service we're paying for.

Beginning to wish I was in a cable area!

Hang on..........bleedin ell! I think the connection just came back on while I was typing this. I'll go see how long it lasts.

grrr...

it just disconnnected itself again! Sad

it disconects during the early hours of the morning on allmost every morning. (and sometimes at other times too)

i'm going to start keeping a copy of the log files and send them to plus.net when i have enough of them!
