"Dial up" Broadband

PlusNet's disc sets up PC's to connect to broadband as if it was dial up (if that makes sense?) i.e. a dial up window opens and it signs on.
I installed BT broadband for a neighbour this week, same modem etc., but they're one connects as 'always on' broadband.

Have I set up something wrongly Shockedops: (I tried a new network connection via the Windows XP prompts but it wouldn't connect) or is it just the way PlusNet works?

No its correct if you have a modem you do dial in effect. If you have a router then the router dials I would think your friend has a router so they dont dial.
