problem with connecting

I'm experiencing an intermittent problem as follows:
if I disconnect from the internet and later go to re-connect
the connection window will sometimes (after a delay) tell
me it was unable to connect due to lack of a dial tone.
This can only be corrected by a re-boot.

I'm running Win 98 and using a speedtouch USB modem (ADSL)

Can anyone help?

Regards

Chris

Hmm..only thing I can think of is : Do you have microfilter's on your sockets?

Hi,
If the problem is intermittent it could be a line fault. If it gets bad report it
by phoning the support line.
Check all you cables and connections, try swapping over your filters.
A faulty modem might cause this.
If your using the drivers that came with your cd, you can get some updates at the Speedtouch UK web site.
PS. With W98 its advisable to have all the latest service packs /updates installed (you probably have but just in case) as these contain fixes for various problems with USB.
