mtu stuck at 1440

Hey all,

i'll start with some good news, i got interleaving turned off and my ping dropped from 70-80 to 20-30, speeds went up to 6meg solid - bought my self a D-Link DSL-2740 and my pings gone down to 10-12 (online game cs 1.6). The problem is that i cant seem to change the mtu from 1440 to 1478 or any other...this is the same problem i had with the usb speedtouch, ive been to the routers login page and there seems to be no signs of an mtu function. ive changed the mtu within the registry etc, manually and using various programs (DRTCP and TCPOptimizer. I also found a guide on the net on how to change the mtu on the router but the option was not located on the router settings page. please help!!! Sad

Tweaking your MTU wont affect your download speed by more than 1%, and it will have no effect whatsoever on your ping time. It simple isn't worth worying about.

Fiddling with your RWIN can make a significant improvement if you current setting is too low.

Your MTU could make a difference if it is lower on the router than on your PC.
