maxdsl only giving 29% of line speed **now 62%!**

I just completed a speed check using the speed checker at dslzone after running the test it tells me that my download speed is ony 29% efficient.

Tester: http://www.dslzoneuk.net/speedtest.php

Results
http://www.dslzoneuk.net/speedtest/testresult.php?result=2283.4&test=7776&date=1148743183

it also shows that some maxdsl customers are getting higher speeds so I guess not all hope is lost.

I find that speedtest good but it is used a lot so try others, for example

The results from both are similar. I use a number of tests. This one just highlights the poor speed by way of percentage.

I can't get decent results using that first tester! ie 23% or below 2mbps
And around 3mbps on the second tester.
However I know that I am getting around 5-6mbps on real world downloads, so who cares what a speed tester says? Smiley

Wonderful, another web page to confirm some combination of BT and Plusnet is crippling my 7Mb ADSL connection...

same here in that I sync at 1888 or 1950 or 2.1 but cannot utilise the speeds because I am set at 1500, speedtester often shows 1498 or 1500 on a good day even tho it could go higher

As I connect several times a day I get a new resync each time, I am using a USB modem at the mo as my router won't sync anywhere near as good, think I will look for a new router with the Ti chipset as its supposed to be Max friendly

Much as it pains me to suggest it, I think the best kind of modem to get around the poor MaxDSL performance is an NTL one...

Hi

As I said in my previous post, I get around 5-6mbps on realworld downloads. Thats why I don't pay too much attention to speed test results.

came home today to find speed has jumped up dramatically.

http://www.dslzoneuk.net/speedtest/testresult.php?result=4836.5&test=7744&date=1149008871

The only thing I have done differently is leave the modem off from 7:45 ish this morning until I came home about 6pm.

Think I'll leave it off tomorrow too.

I have turned it off in the past as advised but only for a hour or so seams that leaving it off longer may yield better results.

off to see how quick I max my downloads before my new monthly total starts on Saturday.
