Does Plus DSL still require a BT line, or is naked DSL an option. I would like to move to VoIP calls only, so no longer requiring a BT line - but is it required for my Plus connection ?

Thanks

At the moment, I believe you still require a BT line (and thus have to pay BT line rental) in order to get ADSL. I heard rumblings about a basic product being released - but no specific details.

Right now, they are just talk.

Regardless, there will still be a requirment for a BT line, otherwise there will be no transmition medium, as no other company own lines.

The idea will be that the PSTN element of the service will be removed. However, predictions of savings will be minimal.

The talk is that rather than paying BT for the copper line, the process will be 100% wholesale and billed through the ISP as an aditional service or included in your monthly charge.

We don't expect to see any further movement until Q2 2005 on this though.
