how to share easystart

I have booked an easy start broadband package,however our problem is that we have two persons who want to use the broadband at the same time in individual rooms.Is it possible to use the harber ,which divided into two lines,to connect with modem??
Please help.Thanks.

The USB modem can only be physically connected to one machine. However, if both machines have ethernet cards, you could share the connection using ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) which is part of Windows. For this to work, the machine with the modem plugged into it (PC1 for example) must be turned on for the other machine (PC2 for example) to use the internet. Details on how to do this on Windows XP are available here. If you tell us which Operating System you are using, it would be better.

Another way would be to buy a router, to replace the modem. A router has 4 ports (for connecting upto 4 devices). That way, you could connect both machines in at the same time (and PC2 wouldn't need to rely on PC1 being turned on, which is the main advantage over ICS).

...unless, of course, you've purchased EasyStart 1MB, which comes with a router anyway!
