dc++

Do you mean P2P file transfers or HTTP/FTP file transfers?

More details on what you are trying to do and what dc++ actually means may help. Also what Plusnet package are you on as some like broadband Plus are not designed for P2P activities and are thus heavily traffic shaped.

P2P speeds on PlusNet are not good with many people getting similar speeds during peak time and only manage to achieve higher figures later into the off-peak periods.

my advice is not to use dc++, speeds on dc++ are dire 24/7 between 0-5k

DC++ is my client of choice and off-peak, you can get some really fast speeds if you connect to the right person, but forget about it between 9AM and 1AM (yes, a MASSIVE 16 hours of the day) because PN will limit your speeds.
