binatone 500 setup problems

when i try to install my binatone 500 adsl modem i insert the cd follow all the instructions then it says please plug in your modem etc, so i plug it in, then instead of the cd detecting it, its detected as a unkown usb device. so i cant install the drivers. i tried going into device manager and updating the drivers but when i click on update from the cd drive it says there is no files there to update from or something.

please someone, iv been paying plusnet now for 2 months broadband and iv hardly used it due to errors.

if i had the choice now id send the modem back, not be bound to the 12 months line rental and buy a decent modem.

Download the drivers from the plusnet Web-site onto your
hard drive and then try installing the software from there
rather than the cd.

The drivers are here and the setup guide is available here.

Some people have had success by first installing the
latest windows service pack to their OS and then the modem drivers.
If you've already tried this and are willing to spend £40 + P&P
to avoid further aggravation then you could try the Speedtouch 330.
I replaced my own Plusnet supplied modem (Dynamode)
after a couple of months with this and have had no problems since.

You could try downloading the drivers first to ensure they install
properly, prior to purchase (win201uk the full version not update)

Otherwise your best bet is to contact support and see if your
eligible for a replacement, I think they also do one from
Solwise but you'll need to check.

the modem has been working on my old computer no problems, but it wont on the new one i still get the same error, i have had a technician(SP) reinstall windows, fit a new mother board, just about everything and it still wont work. iv rang plusnet and they say i have been using the service coz they checked the history so im sure they think im lying to con a free modem or something out of them, i rang binatone they were about as helpful as a chicken, they said they wernt sure what the problem was and they were closing in a few minuites so i have to call back another day.
