Damn. This happened before and I can't remember what I did about it. I'll start looking at the logs tomorrow but here's the problem.

System is running Linux and Realplayer. If I run any realplayer content, e.g. the stuff on the portal, it starts running fine and then after about 20 seconds or so, it freezes. If I glance at the router I can see the LEDs have blanked out. I think this is DOS thing - the router detects accesses from t'internet on port numbers it doesn't like, assumes it's a DOS attack and shuts down. It's happened before and I remember spending ages tracking down what it was. However, I can't remember what I did about it. Perhaps I need to tell my router that some - no hang on - it's something in realplayer itself isn't it? It's coming back to me - I need to go into Realplayer and tell it to use specific ports or something. I remember at the time thinking - I really must write this down because it'll happen again someday. Oh well, I'll sort it out tomorrow.

If it's any help, I think I've solved this. I found I had scribbled something down when it last happened.

In my logs I find entries such as:

Aug 14 13:38:09 tbird1 P652R-11: FW 212.58.224.53 :14920->81.174.156.77 :6972 |UDP|default policy:<2,0>|B
Aug 14 13:38:38 tbird1 last message repeated 1041 times

(can't see how to stop it line-wrapping - is it possible to change right margin for forum posts?)

The messages co-oincide with the router shutting down - presumably the router (tbird1) thinks it's a DOS attack or something. Anyway, go into preferences in realplayer and change the UDP port to something else, 7070 works for me, and now seems to be well.

No. I just add a line of dashes:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

this is a very long line of text that is not wrapped by the forum software when in a code section

Smart. I'll remember that.

However peter, they are hyphens, which do wrap.

They wrap for me as well. The --- is two lines and the text is formed in 3 lines.

HeHe, it wraps in IE but not in Mozilla - guess which browser I use Wink

But using the underline char does not wrap in either browser

Much better. A nother problem though Tongue

The standard font has underline using a much shorter character width than a hyphen. So you need more.

Logicaly, Mozilla should wrap to, as language rules dictate. <nobr> is available for sites that don';t want it to wrap.
