XP and win2k may have connection problems

Both Xp and Win2k make use of DNS cache. If you try to connect to a site the cache test the site and if its up yu connect. It keeps this info in its cache so next time it doesnt test it just connects.
The problem is if it cant connect it tells its cache the site isnt there and keeps this in cache. So after this weekend when it has been unable to connect it may say a site is down because its checking its cache not the site.

How long it keeps this is controlled by the reg. If you still have problems connecting turn off this cache in the services panel.

Its often better to have it turned off anyway as it can give problems.

RE: XP and win2k may have connection problems

I have had no problems. (I have XP Professional)
I also use WinME, on which I use a DNS cache programme. Both have been fine without having to clear their caches.
