VoIP phone recommendation

Anyone know of a product that works like an ordinary phone, but which in fact connects using SIP/VoIP via a Wi-Fi router? Or maybe has the option of doing that and plugs into a standard landline as well. Or even, plugs into the back of the router over the Ethernet cable link?

Basically, I'm looking for something that won't confuse the rest of the family Wink , will work over the broadband and the ordinary phone connection, and most important of all, won't require the PC to be switched on to make a phone call!

Does anything like that even exist?

Not travelled this route with my wallet yet but am looking at the progress and pricing of such phones.

Type 'Dect VoIP Phone' into a search engine. Best compare prices and product reviews.

I know this is not what you are looking for but the Philips VOIP 321 I have are very good. They do need a computer to be connected to but you could buy a pentium 2 of ebay for £15 to do this. You get 2 cordless handsets and 2 seperate buttons for skype or normal landline calls. Call transfering between handsets and loads of other features for under £100

Have a look at this review

This would connect to your router via Ethernet and you then connect a normal phone, or even a Dect phone , to it to make Voip calls using SIP. It looks like it can also connect to your landline as well to make normal calls. Its not cheap though and i've no idea how well it works. There is a cheaper version available from amazon for about £42 the spa-1001 but this doesnt have the ability to connect to your landline. Again no experience of it so no idea how well it works. Here is the link to the manufacturers website if you want more information

If you really want a wireless voip phone take a look here

They seem to have quite a selection but they aren't cheap and goodness knows whether they work or not!!

Anyone out there with any hands on experience of any of them ?
