i have a netgear DG632 router have forwarded the ports for VPN and setup the server connection on the computer i want to connect to but when i try to connect i get error 733 and i cant ping the static IP.

is it because i havent set it up as a static IP in the router. if so whats the default gateway etc for plus net.

hope someone can help

I doubt you will get VPN to work with a Netgear. We tried for ages with netgears support and it just doesnt work. It does vpn pass through which means it lets it through un altered but thats about all.

You dont say what o/s your using at each endpoint?

The OP seems to talk as if all he needs is a pass-through.

We've been using a pass-through on the DG834G for the past few months without any problems. However, this is only a PPTP. If the OP is trying to do IPSEC, it may be a different story.

If you're doing PPTP (client -> server, as opposed to IPSEC which is server-server) You should just need to forward port 1723 to the IP of the server.
