Unable to access ebay from networked PC

Pulling my hair out with this one guys!!!!!

I've got my ADSL shared with a networked PC, both PC's setup exactly the same, both with ZA Pro as a firewall.

My machine, which is the ADSL host can access www.ebay.co.uk fine, however the networked machine can't, em received "document contains no data"!!! Although it can reach all other websites.

I've disabled both firewalls to see if that resolved the issue but no luck, running a tracert on the problematic PC resolves about 8 hops and stops somehwhere outside of this local network.

How can I access, yet the networked pc can'tHuh?Huh

Unable to access ebay from networked PC

can you reach it if you do
http://66.135.208.41/

If you can then its either the dns setting on the pc or your host file has something in it. check
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

the host file can be opened with notepad. If that file has somthing like

127.0.0.1 ebay.co.uk

in it this will stop it as it will look for it on the local pc, often adaware progs or simliar often change the host file.

If this doesnt fix it post the r esults of ipconfig /all from each pc.

Unable to access ebay from networked PC

Hi dunlop, funnily enough I had the EXACT same problem a few months ago on my home network, with 2 XP machines, and 1 Win98 machine. And my PC (the main one) could access eBay fine whereas the others can't... very strange!

The way I fixed it was to make sure all PC's have the same MTU value as the main PC. Strange I know! But sure as heck it fixed it!

Find out how to change your MTU value here.

Hope this helps you! Smiley
