Sync Speed Issues - Ticket 20548064

My router is syncing at 480kbps after an initial 2mb connection when moving house

Line stats are as follows...
Local Tx Power: 12.13 dB
Remote Tx Power: 13.73 dB
Local Line Atten.: 53.0 dB
Remote Line Atten.: 30.5 dB
Local SNR Margin: 14.5 dB
Remote SNR Margin: 16.0 dB

Strange thing is, upload is the same as it was on my old 8mb connection, plusnet have my rate set at 8000kbps and BT say I should get a 3.5mb dslMAX connection

I have connected for over 24hrs in the NTE5 test port, conducted a quiet line test and ran 3 BT speedtest now despite being asked to perform a woosh test, plusnet just say they will get BT out...

Can someone please help me....

Excellent, PN have ran a test:

When does the Downstream rate timestamp adjust?

How can you get the MSR reset and how come the Fault Threshold Rate does not appear?

Many thanks...

Sync Speed Issues - Ticket 20548064

Good news, summin has changed!!!

Rebooted the modem and got the following stats:
Config Data Up Down
Intrlvd Fast Intrlvd Fast
AS0(kbps): - - 1728 0
AS1(kbps): - - 0 0
LS0(kbps): 448 0 - -
LS1(kbps): 0 0 - -
RValue: 4 0 16 0
SValue: 4 4
DValue: 8 8

Yep, thats 1728 downstream with a local SNR margin of 16.5db

That means, with a SNR of 6db, I *should* get a 3mb connection...

Yee haw! Hope it stays stable!!

I make it more like 5 Mbps if you're lucky Wink

Sync Speed Issues - Ticket 20548064

Hi shellsong, fingers crossed!

Will leave router and only reboot once per day and see if the downstream sync rises as the BRAS realise the connection is stable.

Will post up with results and fingers crossed, will get some feedback from plusnet on what the issue was.

Plusnet answered my ticket exactly when they said they would last night which is promising...

Sync Speed Issues - Ticket 20548064

Rebooted router today, still sync'd at 1824kbps with 16db SNR Margin

BRAS have also updated which is good

IP profile for your line is - 1500 kbps
DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM) 1824 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 1364 kbps

Last Result:
Download Speed: 1410 kbps (176.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 360 kbps (45 KB/sec transfer rate)

Just wondering now, whats stopping dslMAX increasing the sync rate?Huh

Sync Speed Issues - Ticket 20548064

Even better news this morning!

Sync is 2432kbps with SNR Margin of 16.5db?!?

BRAS have not updated yet as IP Profile is still set at 1500kbps... No problems, I'm sure by the end of the day Wink

Strange this is, sync is slowly creeping up but SNR Margin is not going down? I think that 5mb may well be on the cards!!

haha my synch is slowly creeping up aswell

i *finally* hit the 2.0mb this morning lol ! Cheesy
my SNR is 10 tho Tongue

alot better than when i use to have 0.5>0.9mb and SNR of 20 >_<

Has your SNR been dropping when your sync rate increases?

Sync Speed Issues - Ticket 20548064

Just had a reply from Plusnet support, they have advised that BT have changed the RAS Mapping in my local exchange...

Now I'm out of my depth there, can any advise on what is involved when changing a RAS mapping?

Quote
The RAS mapping refers to your circuit profile on the RAS (remote authentication server) in the exchange, it is this that governs the noise margins and speed of your connection. SNR can vary, I believe that 6db is the default however BT can and do adjust this in order to speed up or stabilise connections

Well I gotta give it to Plusnet, there support has been bang on time and they have gone above and beyond in helping! Cheesy

Should take around 3 days for my connection to stabilise now, if not, drop another ticket!

Excellent!

Downstream sync has stabilised at 2528kbps with a SNR margin of 16db, the BRAS profile is still set at 1500kpbs though, will have to see what happens over the next few days...

Sync Speed Issues - Ticket 20548064

Latest update!

Sync speed has been at 2528kbps all weekend with an SNR Margin of 16db

The BRAS IP Profile is still at 1500kbps and the sync has not been adjusted up, have asked plusnet to return the fault to BT

Seems something ain't right in the exchange...

Sync Speed Issues - Ticket 20548064

Got the inevitable "I have further tested the line and found no fault evident on the line as your Downstream line rate is set at 2.2meg and on the speeds you are reporting indicates no fault on the line"

err... OK!

Can anyone please give some clarity around the SNR margin. As I see it, the BRAS should target as close to 6db as possible before detecting stabilisation issues.... In my case, its 16.5db and has not EVER adjusted, this is confirmed by the results of the whoosh test...

Someone... please?!?
