Stuck with 512kbps

Hi All,

I am a very frustrated PlusNet customer. I have a Broadband Premier
account and should be entitled to 2Mbps speed, moving soon to 8Mbps.
But because of a limitation on my BT line, I can't get more than 512kbps!
I called BT, and they said they can't do anything for me and that I should
be talking to PlusNet who should try and sort this out with BT Wholesale.
However I raised this with PlusNet before and they didn't suggest anything.

So is anybody else out there in a similar situation? And is there any hope
for a solution in a not so distant future?

Cheers,

Yazid.

Well, I presume it's the distance to the exchange. But I'm not 100% sure.

What ADSL equipment do you use (make/model)?

Does it show line stats? If so, post them here.

What does the BT ADSL checker say your max (non-ADSLMAx) speed. If this states 512Kbs then that is why BT did not upgrade you.

The problem is BTs BUT it has to be reported via your ISP. You can't talk to BT direct as they don't deal with ADSL, only voice line problems, it is BT Wholesale that deal with ADSL and only ISPs can talk to them - hence the possible confusion.

I suspect you will have to wait for MaxDSL or be switch to LLU to see what actual speed you will get.

BT Checker has now been changed for me to 1mb prior to MAX thanks to Andrew @ Adslguide - have raised ticket with PN - but I wont hold my breath as I need the oxygen on a fairly regular basis.
