Static IP address in router settings ?

Upgraded to Metronet ADSL Max two months ago and was using speedtouch 330 USB which was working OK with my 2mb connection before the upgrade , then with the faster speeds it started to misbehave with dropped conections and red flashing lights.Looking on the forums it seems that an ethernet card & router was the way to go for to deal with the faster speeds , so purchased & installed these OK and am pleased with the results and its all working fine , youv`e heard the story now the question as I have a static IP address as provided by MN should this be entered into my router settings or is it not nessesary ? it seems to be OK with out it as I have said but I am unsure about this ,help to clarify the situation would be great . Thanks

Static IP address in router settings ?

Hi.
Although it is a static Ip it shouldn't be entered in to the router as a static. Just click the dynamic box ( as I think you've done Cheesy )
Cheers
