I expect this BUT I find that my speed, which just sometimes (actually ONCE) gets to 2.2Mbs, is often down to 600kbps or so.
Every site tells me I should expect "up to 4.5Mbs". The router says 3.7mbps actual give or take. I get nowhere near either.
I use a wireless 3com router 3CRWDR100A-72 which is FULLY updated to ADSL 2+ but haven't yet had a re-take of my speed since upgrading the firmware.
What I find is that if I restart the router the speed at least doubles immediately.
On my exchange Plusnet seem to use Tiscali as the wholesaler.
My next door neighbour has just changed to Taltalk which also uses Tiscali. SHE gets 2.2Mbps using a non-wireless speedtouch 330 - and probably 10 metres from her main BT socket using normal telephone cable.
Any thoughts? Any advice?
Just to emphasise. I used a "here" link on a similar topic. The REPORTED speed was 2500. The actual speed was 600. Restarting the router pushed that up to 1000+ within seconds. The router still showed 3700
